On-site Data Recovery

No one ever thinks of data recovery unless the inevitable has happened. It’s also no coincidence that Data Recovery becomes a viable option ONLY when backups are not in place, or not up-to-date.

Depending on the circumstances, data recovery may be required for lost/deleted data or complete Hard Drive failure.

The latter is typically a lot more expensive. Usually starting at around $600.00

However, if you have merely deleted or lost your data, often times it can be found. The key is whether the hard drive was used to save more info after the deletion. Hard Drives work on a “First Available Spot” basis. The drive will always write any new data to the first available slot closest to the front of the drive. Therefore, if you delete a file, and then write something else to the hard drive, the original data is most likely gone.

In rare cases where the drive has stopped functioning from a windows standpoint but is still somewhat operational, data can often be retrieved. This all depends what parts of the drive are damaged/not responding. On average, we are able to recover approx 60% of missing data on a drive in this state.

It is unfortunate to be put in this position, but if no backup is present then the alternatives are limited. That is unless the data in question isn’t worth a great deal, then recovery doesn’t have to come into the picture at all.

However, in a business environment tossing the drive away isn’t always an option. This is where we can help. We provide basic onsite data recovery services. As long as the drive is still functioning (at its basic level), we can pull data off it.

No matter what industry you’re in, computer hardware is all the same. It’s a fact that 30% of all computer failures are related to Hard Drive failure. Without adequate data backups in place, data recovery can quickly become a reality.

Some rules to follow:

  • Always maintain an up-to-date backup of your data.
  • Make sure a copy of the backup goes offsite.
  • If money allows, install redundancy measures on your computer.
